Sweet Kingdom Missionary Baptist Church
The Sweet Kingdom Missionary Baptist Church is located at 4150 Chene Street on Detroit’s lower East Side. Sweet Kingdom was established in 1952 under the leadership of Rev. Eddie Albert. However, it was under the leadership of Pastor James E. Robinson, Sr. that Sweet Kingdom established itself as one of Detroit’s most musical and Holy Ghost inspired churches. Pastor Robinson died in 1999 and a four year period of struggle Robert Jones was called to pastor the church.
Now in his 12th year as pastor, Robert has worked to keep the church’s spiritual and musical legacy strong. In addition to the church’s already established ministries, Jones has established an improved College Scholarship Program, a Narcotics Anonymous program, and a senior citizens outreach program called, “Seasoned Saints”.
Sweet Kingdom is a church where all are welcome. Though there are much bigger churches, there are few that are more intimate or care more about the growth, welfare and worship of it’s members and visitors.
Sweet Kingdom is a church where the Holy Ghost happens!
